Fifty FR1 vehicles

Versions: GTX / TX.

In March 1991, in Lyon at the Parc de la Tête d'Or, all the Verneys gathered round for a fabulous delivery of FR1 TX / GTX.

This took place in the Parc de la Tête d'Or and the Halle Tony Garnier in the city of Lyon (68).

An invitation only buffet was arranged on March 12, 1991 at the restaurant of the Pavillon du Parc.

These were the first FR1 to carry a new livery which gave a mythical character to the vehicles.

The livery was designed by Graphibus. The upholstery remained identical to the previous one.

Some great coaching personalities were present such as Paul Berliet. This delivery represented a renewal of the travel brand "Tourisme Verney": this was the third big delivery of FR1 since 1985 with a reception.

140 vehicles

40 teams

150 drivers for the transport of 5000 athletes and 7000 journalists with a total distance travelled of of 500,000 kilometres.

According to President Verney, this operation is an important challenge. The event was in preparation for over a year in several stages:

. Provision of resources (men and equipment)

. Provision of driver training

The coaches were sent to Albertville for the duration of the games. The organisation was immense:

Managers and supervisors were sent to the site to manage the situation as closely as possible.

Tourisme Verney transported the participants and the journalists from the site to their hotels.

The drivers were connected to a central control via the ROMEO radio system so as to be constantly informed of the state of the roads and possible changes. During the games, no delays occurred and there was not a single mishap.

Drivers were trained in driving on ice, and received a daily update before the start of the day. They went for a good month of driving on the Olympics site. They drove all through the Olympic Games without any difficulty …
