Museum Project during the time of TRANSPORTS VERNEY

During the 1980s and 1990s VERNEY coaches and buses were preserved in the city of Le Mans at the S.T.A.O. site. At the same place archives were kept by the President of the Group who wished to create a Museum about the history of his family and his company. In January 1995, part of the archive was inundated following a major flood across the whole of the city of Le Mans. The water affected some of the buses, which was not optimal for their preservation.

At the time of the sale of the Verney Group in 2002, the preserved coaches were entrusted to Alain Gros (founding director of Autocar Technique Patrimoine): fourteen Verney vehicles left Sarthe for Seine-et-Marne. In 2009, the LMC 12-80 S Briochin was sold to two enthusiasts who were passionate about Brittany and Normandy. In 2012, the A.S.P.T.V. was founded. Under the impetus of Messieurs SAMSON & AYRAULT and the membership, it was decided to preserve some coaches. Out of the fourteen, two LMC12-80 S were donated to the A.S.P.T.V. and the rest were scrapped by A.T.P. although the LP and CITROEN DPUADI remain with A.T.P.

A museum through the A.S.P.T.V.?

The founders of the A.S.P.T.V created the Transports Verney Museum on 24 July 2013. It aims to bring together one hundred and eleven years of Verney history through archives and vehicles. It is also an opportunity for you to discover the history of a make of which Verney was a very faithful customer: Renault Véhicules Industriels, division Autocar & Autobus (with its subsidiary Karosa). You will also find information about Transports Citroën, the mythical brand with the chevrons! The virtual museum gives you access to all the "Verney" collections to enable you to relive one of the most beautiful periods of passenger transport in France. The name Transports Verney Patrimoine was adopted in 2015.

A good visit to you all!
